There may be some occasions when you want to change the extension of a file on your Android device! Most of the time you would have connected your device with your computer to resolve this. But what of you want to change the file extension on your device itself?

For instance, you download a file from any website for a new app. The APK file is generally distributed with ZIP or BIN extension to avoid limitations of the web hosts. At some other times few files downloaded may get unwanted extensions that make the file inaccessible in your device. At such situations, it becomes highly necessary to change the extension to the desired one to make the file be open able!

Not many Android file explorers allow to change the extension on your device. These file manager apps, would only allow to change the file name but not the extension.

  1. I am making an APP myself and I use files to save all kind of data !!!!!
It thought it was a nice idea to invent my own file extensions !!
( I read the files myself, and I use the extension to identify the type of data . )

    UNFORTUNATELY :
My files are disappearing ; It seem like ANDROID is removing them !!!!

Is there a way to tell ANDROID not to remove my files ; ( add my extensions to some list ??? )
