Kodak is mostly known for its good quality cameras. Now it is releasing a new model of pocket camcorder Zi8 with low cost and High Definition Video. Zi8 is the first pocket camcorder to offer full 1080p high-definition resolution. Previous camcorders like Zx1 or the Flip UltraHD and MinoHD could only record in 720p. Electronic image Stabilization feature allows extra image processing aiming to minimize the effect of shakes on the final video. Zi8 can shoot videos in different resolutions according to different environments and scenarios, that is it can shoot videos in 1080p, 720p at 30fps, 720p at 60fps and WVGA modes giving user the option to switch resolutions.

Zi8 has an external microphone jack which allows users to connect more capable microphones to listen audios than the one integrated already in the camcorders. It has a Flexible USB connector compared to other pocket camcorders. It has a digital zoom up to 4x.
