Life is good with LG – a sneak peek at the LG Ultra HD 4K TVs at CES 2015.

Updated on January 12, 2015

I have heard engaging stories about Televisions. You mean programs one views on a television set? No! I mean the very television people talk about. How big is their television, picture quality, sound, viewing experience…..all in all a couch potato’s revelation.

So, these species were first excited when they first laid their hands on a television set (the good old box type television), then came the era of flat screens which grew old to be a curved screen, then (rather, simultaneously) terms like HD, ULTRA HD and OLED popped up in the kingdom of television. The idea was to transport viewers to the world they were viewing on the television. I guess, over the years these innovations have been embraced without much protest and raved by the viewers as the kingdom of television is expanding furiously.

The expansion was hit by a line of 4K television not so long ago. Note to a tech novice- 4K which technically can also be called as a UHD (Ultra High Definition) TV would give you four times a better TV viewing experience than what you are experiencing right now. All 1080p Full HD which means eight million pixels. Just so you know, currently two million pixels inhabit your television screen. These technicalities would lead to one thing- excellent image, texture and smoothness.

While, you are trying to remember the brands associated with 4K (which you might have witnessed in advertisements) let me tell you about a brand which has added a new word to the kingdom of 4K-World’s second largest TV maker, LG plans to introduce Quantum Dot TV to its line of 4K LED LCD TVs (that was quite a mouthful, I know).

Enrich your viewing experience

Now, what in the world Quantum dot technology means?

LG claims this would make 4K viewing more pleasurable. Nano crystals ranging from 2 to 10 nanometers would be tackled by this technology. Each nano dot would exhibit variegated colors (this would be influenced by the dot’s size). When a curtain of quantum dot is pulled across the LCD backlight, color and brightness of the picture both improve drastically. All this when viewed in In-Plane Switching (IPS) display on an LG 4K ULTRA HD that promises to rob you off your breath. The quantum dot viewing experience would be 30 percent better than the traditional television currently flooding the marking.

Those of you whose mind has wandered off into the environmental friendly aspect of the entire technology. Take a deep breath and hear this out-it is cadmium and other toxic heavy metal free, meaning, your next TV (in case, you plan to buy this one) would love the environment.

Why should I buy an LG 4K? Why not Samsung?

We all love prizes, either winning them or owning the ones who win them. LG’s OLED TV has been an award-winning technology since it’s launch, which means, the newest ULTRA HD TV with quantum dot technology would further strengthen it’s position as a market lead.

Life indeed is good

Where do I see it? CES 2015, Las Vegas. A little patience, you will eventually see it at your nearest store.

Prices, please? LG has announced the arrival of nine series of LED LCD this year which may roughly cost  £20,000 and above (cheap, right?)

Now, let me splash some cold water right in your face-while the television empire expands and so does the pixel business, your vision of 20/20 would remain constant (peeps, please revisit the lessons learnt in your biology class).
