Windows Bugs Fixed : Microsoft

Microsoft Inc. has released fixes for Windows.  Totally three bugs has been fixed. Among them two are ‘critical’ and one is ‘moderate’.  Microsoft last week released patches for three vulnerabilities in the Server Message Block (SMB) file-sharing protocol in Windows.

windows_patchSchultze said the critical bugs are very serious that can exploit them by simply sending malformed data to unpatched machines. Server Message Block (SMB) operates as an application-level network protocol mainly used to provide shared access to files, printers, serial ports, and miscellaneous communications between nodes on a network.

Microsoft acknowledged that it did not fix a known vulnerability in the SMB in Windows 7. A spokesman said the bug will be fixed in “the next public release for Windows 7.”

F-Secure that the vulnerability has affected more than million PC’s in two days. Moreover survey says that more than 30 percent of windows PC’s are not patched. Microsoft blames Symantec and Panda Security for their lackadaisical patching for the infections.

Urge and its time to check the updates for your windows too.
