Nokia announces cheap priced featurephones – Nokia 105 and 301

BARCELONA – Nokia is making some serious announcements here at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. You can get the live updates from our coverage here. Meanwhile, some news about Nokia Series 30 platform, the Nokia 105 comes with a color screen, in cyan or black color coatings. The model is successor to the Nokia’s 1280 model, which was big hit after selling million units since it was launched in March 2010.

Nokia 105 will be aimed for sale in emerging markets like India, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia and Vietnam. The model will be seen in other markets such as Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Middle East as well.

Nokia 105 will feature an 1.45 inch true color screen, FM radio, speaking clock and flashlight support which can beam up to 35 days on standby and provides 12.5 hours talk time. The device is lightweight and can fit in your budget very well. Interestingly the phone will come with Nokia Life, which will provide tips on education, health and entertainment information. Currently Nokia Life is available only in India, China, Indonesia, Nigeria. The feature is soon expected to be available on other market as well.

Nokia 105 is expected to hit the market during the first quarter and will be priced around $20 (€15) before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia 301 Specifications

Along with Nokia 105, the company also unveiled Nokia 301 phone for $85. Nokia 301 features a bit larger screen compared to Nokia 105, it sports 2.4 inch display screen, 3.2 megapixel camera with editing and sharing options; including the interesting feature Panorama for wide angle snaps and group photos.

Nokia 301 also has an interesting feature – the self-portrait mode, which can help users to snap themselves with the rear-facing camera. The user can also use voice prompts to guide and position the phone correctly without looking at the screen.

Nokia 301 will come in single and dual SIM models. According to the product description, the single SIM model should support standby time up to 39 days, while the dual SIM model will have standby time up to 34 days. The handset will come in five colors – cyan, yellow, magenta, black and white.

Nokia 301 will be available in market during second quarter and will be priced at $85.
