Rumor: Nokia Normandy to hit shelves this year?
We reported few months back that Nokia was going the Android way. The company has been in the works to develop an Android phone and Normandy is going to be first of its kind. Now, a few screenshots have been released and few specifications have also leaked. What is happening at Nokia? Is the Microsoft deal on or Nokia is trying to resist it? Nothing is known at the moment.
The Normandy is set to run Android 4.4.1 Kitkat and is heavily skinned. The Normandy seems to be a combination of Asha and Lumia and is said to come in vibrant colors and the looks are similar to Lumia. Asha because the capacitive button is pretty much like a 501. Here are some specs that leaked following an AnTuTu test. Someone really had to do this. Couldn’t they wait a bit longer to test the phone? Maybe they wanted the leak and wanted to grab some attention. The specs are:
- 4″ FWVGA Display (480×854 pixels)
- 5 MP camera.
- Model Number: RM 980
- Supposedly SnapDragon 200.
- Android 4.4.1 KitKat
The device features dual SIM slot and should be an entry level phone. Cost and the other details are not known. Nokia is trying all the ways possible to come to the top again and this may also include coming in to the Android bandwagon. Nokia should give a new definition to Android and make the user experience enjoyable. Here are some pics. The last two images are uploaded in a weibo account and may well be photoshopped or so. The project N as it is codenamed is said to be “full steam ahead” and the phone is said to be hitting the shelves this year. Be sure that you don’t have your expectations high as, if this news isn’t true, then you’ll be disheartened. This is just a rumor, so do take it with a pinch of salt.
