Windows 8.1 Update 1 to be expected on March 11
Windows 8.1 is an update over the existing Windows 8. The OS brings new personalization option, some tweaks under the hood, and many more. The new UI that Windows 8 brought with it is called the Metro UI and most of the people are not accustomed to the UI and hence found it difficult to use. Some people say Windows 8 is a touch based OS and is not that comfortable when you use a mouse and keyboard. That may not be the case and of course, it is not.
Microsoft is coming with the next update dubbed Windows 8.1 Update 1. The naming of the update is very similar to how it named it during the Windows 3.1 era. With this, Ill give you an inspirational quote. Life is a cycle and so is the naming of updates by Microsoft.
The update 1 brings with it the ability to Link Metro apps to the desktop taskbar, a desktop like right click on the metro apps, a link to the control panel in the PC settings menu, several tweaks to the Mail App and last but not the least preview of your metro apps on the desktop which will go to full screen once you click it. I don’t like some of the features as they remind me of Windows 7. The apps that are open could be seen by hovering over to the left hand corner, while the individual settings could be got from going in to the bar that appears when you hover over to the right hand corner. The new approach is rather different but not very well appreciated. And, the latest leak is now viral on several of the file hosting sites but that is not the latest build. The official release is to be on March 11.
