Adobe Reader, Acrobat vulnerable

Adobe has warned about the critical vulnerability in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on Thursday. And also said that, this vulnerability can lead adobe reader or adobe acrobat to crash and could potentially allow hacker to take control of the entire system.

Symantec the security gaint has said, that the vulnerability is caused by PDF parser. “Once the malicious document is opened, it will trigger the vulnerability”.

Adobe has responded to this issue and named it as critical. Adobe plans to release an update for both Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 by March 11th, 2009.

Steven Adairm, security researcher advices that users disable javascript on their computer, if they use adobe reader or adobe acrobat. And added that, disabling javascript would definetely prevent the malware from being installed on the system. But however still the application will crash. Its better to diable javascript on their Adobe reader or Adobe acrobat. And also adviced users to update their Anti-virus software and to be careful while opening document that suspects to be malicious.
