Detroit Motor show has started. Let the Motors roar!!
Detroit Motor show is going off with a super start and we are here to tell you about the different events and the ticket availability for various shows. Lets start then, shall we?
The Detroit Motor show kick started on 13th January and will go on in full fledge till 26th January, 2014. The show features some super concept cars from major manufacturers of automobiles. The Detroit Auto show is officially named the North American International Auto Show or the NAIAS which is being held at Michigan, Detroit. The NAIAS is an annual event much similar to the Indian Auto Expo, the Geneva Auto show, the LA auto show, etc… The event is held at Cobo Center and is one of the largest auto shows in North America.
Events
The show begins with press previews, charity and industry previews. The previews on this year were held from 13-17th of January, 2014. The press preview is exclusively for the press and only credential media is allowed inside the center. In the industry previews were by industrial experts. The ticket cost is $95 per person. The charity preview aims at raising charity for a cause. The event started 18 years back and has raised around $91 million. There are a whole range of partners for this event like MGM, Comcast spotlight, etc… The public shows started from 18th of January (yesterday) and will go on till 26th of January.
Contests
There are different contests such as Photo contest and Poster contest. The photo contest is open on 21st January, 2014 in which the Cobo Center will open one hour early for those who have a smartphone, a camera, an iPad or any other device that can take a photo. They can take a photo and can send it to naias.com and can win prizes. There are five categories- Convertibles, Black and white, Coolest close up, Electric Vehicles, Coupes and Concepts, and Luxury. The poster contest has ended on November 22, 2013 and included only high school students studying in Michigan, Detroit. It is a creative competition and it is a way for students to participate in the Auto show.
Tickets
Tickets are available from 18th to 25th and the special tickets are available for 26th. From 18th to 25th, the show is from 9 am to 10 pm and no entry is allowed after 9 pm. On 26th January, Sunday, the show is from 9 am to 7 pm and no entry after 6 pm. Physically challenged audience will get an early access (i.e. at 8 am). Ticketing price is different and for adults, the price is $13, Senior $7 (65 and older), Children $7 (7-12, under 6 free with a parent or guardian) and for etickets $13. There are also group tickets available for which a valid photo ID is necessary. Pickup of the tickets is outside the Oak Hall entrance. The tickets are non refundable and the children below age of 6 do not require a ticket when they are accompanied by their parents or guardian.
