Casio fx-CG10/20 Calculator Gets Graphical

Graphing calculators are nothing new but calculators with graphics . . . .  Texas Instruments has long been the leader in commercial calculators of a higher order.  Their graphing calculators have become standard in high schools all over the world. However, Casio is stepping up its game and bringing the first calculator to feature colors, graphics, and Apps all in one.

casio-ti-calculatorThe new fx-CG10/20 is a little bit more complex than just a calculator.  The screen is capable of producing up to 65,000 colors (though your standard math and graphing will be limited to 7 of those.)  In addition, the apps that are available for the calculator include a fancy one called Picture Plot which allows user to overlay graphs over a picture. This Calculator also plays nice with your PC via USB ports and runs off a rechargeable battery.

In addition, the calculator’s body has been “upgraded” to resemble a more common portable device—the cell phone. No word yet on if this device will make students any better at homework (or distract them enough dso they fail epically) but you can get your hands on one and find out soon enough. Price of this calculator is around $10.
