Parrot’s MiniDrone and Jumping Sumo Can Jump, Climb, Turn 360 degree

Its been 4 years since Parrot unveiled its first Drone controlled by an iPhone during CES 2010.  The company sold out millions of units and have shown the power of drones to the world. Well, that could be the reason for Parrot’s another show in CES 2014 where the company introduced MiniDrone, a smaller version of A.R.Drone 2.0. Parrot didn’t stop there, as it showed off another surprise package “Jumping Sumo”. This time both the drones are expected to cost lesser than $299 A.R.Drone 2.0.

MiniDrone is still a prototype, which resembles like a mini helicopter (quadrocopter) and can do almost everything like A.R.Drone. The minidrone can be controlled using smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The drone comes with two wheels, which it uses to roll over the floor, ceiling and climb walls.

MiniDrone is powered by 500MHz processor, 1GB RAM and sensors such as pressure, accelerometer, gyroscope, ultrasonic to keep it stable and aloft. It will also have a vertical camera.

Along with the MiniDrone, Parrot showed off another interesting little robot that can fit in your palm. The Jumping Sumo, which can be controlled remotely. It has sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope and two wheels. The wheels can be controlled individually, so that the jumping sumo can make 360 degree turns and 180 degrees pirouettes. Sumo also features springs that allows it to jump up to three feet high. Did I tell the drones can fly?
