Facebook to shut down Messenger for Windows by March 3 and closes its E-mail service

Facebook Email? Do you know what that is? I’ve never even heard of it. I’ve only recently come to know that the service even was there and that it was shut down. The move comes after the service didn’t take off by that much and was still under development. To put it blatantly, Facebook didn’t even try to develop the app and the app was quite in its initial stages( not the beta one but the developed version was in its initial stages).

If you were a Facebook (FB) mail user, then you should have received this message by now stating that the service is shutting down. FB more closely concentrated on developing its Messenger service and wasn’t interested in developing this at all. Lets pay the final respect to his app. Putting your hats down. RIP Facebook Mail.

As mentioned in the image above, the Facebook email will be sent to your primary email address and there is one disadvantage in this. SPAM! hackers or spammers can easily guess out your Facebook email address by viewing your Username on FB. That is a very big minus to this approach.

Another thing that is happening is Messenger for Windows. So, if you are a Windows user and you use Messenger often, you may have to leave it and say good bye to the service much like how Microsoft discarded its Messaging service after the Windows 8.1 update. I quite missed that service. But Skype was there to the rescue. Similarly, As FB bought Whatsapp, it should see to integrate the service as its native client. Facebook went as hard as to remove the installation link and the help pages for the service. There is one help page which is prominent enough- Uninstallation of the Messenger app. Those of you who have been using the app, don’t get disappointed as there should be another way. You have time till March 3 to grab a back up of all your conversations if anything important is there!
