Facebook plans to setup new server farm in Lulea, Northern sweden

The social networking trend setter, Facebook has planned to setup a new server farm in lulea. This is going to be Facebook’s first non-U.S. server farm in northern Sweden. The server farm is expected to be planted about 60 miles from the Arctic Circle, according to the reports from Telegraph.

This news is expected to be announced on Thursday. “The climate will allow them to just use only air for cooling the servers,” said Mats Engman, chief executive of the Aurorum Science Park.

According to the statistics, the temperature of the Lulea has not gone above 30C from the year 1961 and averaging about 25 degree Celsius. Considering the mild temperature, the social networking giant plans to build three huge servers halls which is expected to cover an area of 11 football fields.
