Smartening up your door since 2014 -Genie Smart Lock promises security and utility
I am sure each one of us had an experience of being locked out of our place once in this lifetime. We have also been partakers of the drama which follows this incidence – find the locksmith, hours of waiting at the next door neighbor’s place (that is, if your stars aren’t conspiring against you), waiting for the duplicate and then (if all the aforementioned fall into place), finally getting an entry into your own place.
We have come a long way in many walks of life, but our houses still flaunt the traditional locks which only needs a key. Come to think of it, if you can procure a duplicate, so can the burglar. What we all need is a smart lock to go with our smart phones. Genie Smart Lock is one such product.
What is it?
As the name suggests, it is a smart lock, the key which would lie in your smart phones. The developers of Genie Smart Lock saw this coming, thus they designed something which can be clasped unto the traditional door locks (or, holes to be precise) which numerically happens to be of 54 mm.
You can install the lock on your door without having to change the door. In case you shift, uninstall (without leaving a mark on the door) and install it on the door of the new place. It is as simple as it sounds.
What else would I need?
Just a smart phone with 4.0 Bluetooth.
Extra bags weighing you down? Baby not ready to free you? Too dark to find that key in the dark?
Worry not! Just make sure that you are carrying that phone in your purse (or, pocket). The WiFi or the Bluetooth on your phone would do the rest-you can walk into your place without having to unlock it in person.
But, there wouldn’t be a duplicate in that case. What about other family members who would need an access to the place?
You can send the keys via Bluetooth, which means you get to be in control of the distribution of the duplicate keys. You can always get a detailed log list of the last entrant and his (or, her) time of entry. The probability of being caught would high in such case, therefore burglars would steer clear of your place
Which means, in case I forget my phone, I would be locked out of my place just like the traditional lock days?
No, not at all. Log into the official site or, feed in your Bluetooth FOB or better still, use a traditional key…errr…but didn’t I stop using those kind of locks? Well yes, but Genie Smart Lock has a traditional lock beneath its virtual front.
It would let you relive those traditional key and lock days every once in a while.
But what if my lock’s battery gets drained?
Genie Hub has been taking care of charging your battery since your ownership and it would continue to take care of it. The battery would last for over a year’s time.
Other sensitive information shared through WiFi and Bluetooth is also taken care by Genie Hub. Just in case, you get paranoid post purchasing Genie or feel it isn’t what you expected it to be, then you can return it within 14 days of purchase.
Genie is still in it pre-production stages and one would have to wait for a while to lay their hands on this security goody. One can always book in advance (as that ensures discounted rates, as well).
