Expect Android OS on your car dash sooner! – Open Automotive Alliance (OAA)

Already being a successful open-source operating system on phones, tablets, televisions and various other mobile/media devices, Google has now decided, to take Android to the next level!

Would not it be great if you can have an enjoyable and optimized driving experience having all your favourite apps and music with you, and use your cars built-in controls in the android based system? Yes! This is what Google is planning to give you with the help of Audi, GM, Honda, Hyundai and Nvidia.  This Open Automotive Alliance, according to Google is, “aimed at accelerating auto innovation with an approach that offers openness, customization and scale“.

Patrick Brady, Director, Android Engineering says, “In this multi-screen world, switching between our different devices should be easy and seamless. Common platforms allow for one connected experience across our phone, tablet and PC, so we get the right information at the right time, no matter what device we’re using. But there’s still an important device that isn’t yet connected as seamlessly to the other screens in our lives – the car.”

 Meanwhile, it is also known that Apple has announced its plans to integrate iOS into the car with BMW, Mercedez-Benz, GM and Honda.

Now, again its a battle, to whom will dominate the car war ! Lets wait to see more, and 2014 is an year of action!
