Honda debuts in MPV segment with the All New Honda Mobilio
‘Live Up’. ‘Lead’. ‘Enjoy Your Challenges’. ‘Pure Exhilaration’. Really, that has been ‘Executive’ and ‘Truly Honda by Nature’. Gosshhh! Too much of taglines? But Yes, Honda has been one of the best and promising brands in the contemporary automobile industry across the globe. With the latest innovative technologies, power pack engines, lucrative designs and utmost safety, Honda has been enviably successful in its stint so far, be it the adorable Accent, the impeccable Amaze or the buxom Brio. And yet, continuing its legacy and retaining the glory, this time Honda unveils to you its first magnificent and phenomenal MPV, The All New Honda Mobilio.
This being Honda’s debut in the intriguing segment of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs), Honda Mobilio was first unveiled in the International Motor Show, 2013 in Indonesia and was recently launched during the Indian Auto Expo, 2014. After amazing success with the Brio hatchback and the Amaze sedan, the seven-seater MPV adds further glitter and glam to the Brio Platform. The car will be available with two engine options- both The Petrol & the Diesel variants.
While the petrol variant engages the 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine, renowned for its sincere duty under the highly acclaimed sedan, Honda City, the Diesel variant is powered by 1.5-Liter i-DTEC engine which has achieved great success with its admirable altruism and obedience for the Honda Amaze. With added amusement, while both the variants of the MPV are designed with manual as well as an automatic transmission five speed gearbox, the petrol engine generates an exceptional power of 116.3BHP@6600RPM and a peak torque of 146Nm@4800RPM and the powerful diesel engine is capable of producing power of 98.6BHP@3600RPM and highest torque of 200Nm@1750RPM, which definitely isn’t a fluke!
With the attractive dimensions of an overall length of 4390mm, a wheelbase of 2650mm and an overall height of the car is 1610mm, Honda Mobilio has a ground clearance of 185mm which are sufficient enough to make it spacious and well equipped without compromising the exterior design.
Apart from this, the appealing exteriors of the car flaunt a same thick chrome bar placed in between the small honeycomb grille with some space for the chrome furnished Honda logo at the center of the bar as in Honda Amaze with the rounded headlamps, turn indicators and the cute foglamps fixed in the matt black finish in the lower side of the bumper magnifying the elegance of the honeycomb grill. The interiors design is bedecked with features like three-spoke steering wheel, twin dials and a music system with high clarity speakers which produces amazing sound that adds pleasure and rhythm to the travelling experience.
The refreshing Air Conditioner in the middle of the dash has a control with the three knobs that offer easy access to the driver and rejuvenates the passengers with the ambient coolness that the body yearns for. While the second row of the MPV offers enough space for three people to seat comfortably, the third row can accommodate only two people or can be easily folded to enhance the extra luggage space.
Being the perfect amalgamation of luxury, driving pleasure, safety and a low-priced MPV, Honda Mobilio promises to be a value-for-money vehicle at an affordable price of around Rs. 6.25 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs 7.70 lakhs for the diesel variant. MPVs prevalent in the market like Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia will offer a tough competition, yet it would be enthralling and exuberant to see how Honda Mobilio emerges ecstatic with exultation and retains the age-old Honda Glory.
