Intel Octa core i7 processor unveiled – A beast! [GDC 2014]
Intel has shown its new processor- the Octa Core i7 processor which is a beast. The processor comes with 8 core and 16 thread processing and with Iris Pro graphics. This is the first haswell processor set to feature 8 cores for the desktop environment which will support the latest X99 chipset from the same company- Intel.
Not much details on the processor is known but it sure is giving the “tick” in Intel’s tick-tock and the processor size is shrunk from 28nm to a mere 14nm which means that computers now will be even more compact and occupy less space compared to the single-room occupying computers of the past generations. Woah! What a difference. The new set of processors will come with Intel 9 series graphics and are said to be named Broadwell. These are the first set to use the Iris Pro Graphics. The Graphics unit come soldered directly on the mother board and helps in speedy processing and mainly gaming.
Following the 20th Anniversary of the previous generation processor- the Pentiums, Intel is announcing the anniversary edition of the Pentium processor which will come with unlocked SKUs with Intel Quick Sync video on board which is actually and only seen on the I-series lineup. This is also a budget option as you get the processor at a cheap rate as it is quite old but with new tech.
Intel also announced a technology called Ready Mode. This is actually more like a software upgrade for the 5th gen processors and takes advantage of the C7 power state and helps in reducing the consumption of power. This also enables faster resume times from sleep and hibernation. Intel has actually collaborated with some of the OEMs and they include Asus, HP, Lenovo and Acer to name a few. The upcoming feature is to come in new Desktops with Intel motherboards. The detailing and the pricing of the new boards are not known as of now, but we will soon come to know and tell you.
