iRobot’s new Scooba 450 can clean your room better [CES 2014]
iRobot’s robotic home cleaning tech continues to expand. Its latest Scooba 450 – floor scrubbing robot, is more intelligent and efficient! Lets have a quick glimpse on what it has!
What’s new in Scooba 450? – The 3-cycle Cleaning System!
The Scooba 450 stands out to be a unique robotic cleaner by passing over the floor thrice. And all the time, the cleaner cycles water like last time, which means Scooba is always using fresh water! With 750ml of water on-board(this larger capacity makes the intelligent mop larger and heavier) its clear that the Scooba does the perfect job. In the first cycle, the cleaner vacuums up the debris and dust, meanwhile pre-soaking the floor to make cleaning easy for the next round. In second cycle, the robot scrubs the floor and absorbs all the excessive moisture. This three-step cleaning process is claimed to remove up to 99.3% of bacteria!
“iAdapt” algorithm helps the 450 to determine the room’s layout. It also has new brushes to scrub and suck the excess liquid.
Two different cleaning modes
The robotic cleaner comes with two cleaning modes : 20 minute short cycle and 40 minute long cycle. And a single charge can stand up to do either cycles.
With 20-min cycle the cleaner is capable of scrubbing approximately a 150 square feet area and you know the 40-min cycle can do the work for double the area! As, the cycles are time based, Scooba will clean the area for the entire duration.
What Features are dropped in Scooba 450?
The 450 cannot dock itself, recharge or operate on schedule. All these features are dropped because the cleaner needs to be filled manually with fresh water each time.
The Scooba 450 Dry Dock stand
iRobot’s “Dry Dock” stand is capable of holding the cleaner vertically and charging it. It also dries out the interior part of the cleaner by blowing air inside. This station is a seperate accessory and you can get it for a price of $79.99.
