JVC’s New Picsio Pocket Camcorders
JVC may seem a little behind the times when they offer up more pocket camcorders for the consumer market—after all, it’s been pretty saturated already and many smart phones actually eclipse other handheld units in quality. However, the GC-WP10 and the GC-FM2 are pretty reliable if a bit boring.
Both shoot in 1,920 X 1,080 at 30 frames per second (which isn’t bad) and both have excellent built-in image stabilization to cancel out the jerky motions amateur shooters often suffer from. Some of the cooler features include HDMI Outputs and a 3 inch touch screen LCD. You can jury rig Wi-Fi capabilities if you use EyeFi’s enable SD card (which seems like a bit much in this modern era when even TVs have Wi-Fi.)
The WP model is waterproof (hence the WP) but in order to accommodate the amateur undersea explorers, the camera sacrificed its optical zoom. The FM2 is a little more versatile with a pop-out USB. So depending on your personal needs you can choose accordingly. The price tags are pretty fair at $179.95 for the FM2 and $20 more for the WP.
