Micromax YU Yureka sports stunning specs at an Affordable Price!
After enjoying some formidable success with its Canvas series, Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax has launched Yureka as part of its YU series of phones that feature, Cyanogen OS. At the launch event on Thursday, Micromax claimed that the device lets the user ‘Play God’ by allowing them to customize and tinker almost all aspects of the phone. Polished looks, improved Android experience and ultra competitive pricing, the Micromax Yureka is generating a substantial amount of buzz, so it is definitely worth taking a closer look at.
The Cyanogen OS
One of the biggest selling points of the Yureka and certainly the one that Micromax is making the maximum noise about is the Cyanogen OS 11 (based on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat, with a Lollipop based update in the works). According to the tag line attached to the phone, the OS lets you play God, in other words giving you unprecedented control over how your phone looks, works and feels. In the words of a Micromax executive, the OS is akin to Android on steroids, and removes the unnecessary factory apps that other Android phones carry while increasing performance and adaptability. Apart from that, the OS has some other special features as well.
- Themes – The phone comes along with two in-built themes and expect more in the future. These themes will let users change icons, tap animations, boot screen logos, fonts and much more.
- Privacy – The Cyanogen OS gives the user, a fine control of apps and the data it accesses.
- Camera – The OS adds a number of exciting in-built filters to the camera app.
- Editing buttons – The user can modify the actions performed on pressing external buttons and also configure the device’s response on single tapping, double tapping etc.
A ‘Phab’ Device.
The Micromax Yureka is big – almost phablet sized – with its 5.5 inch HD screen. Offering a resolution of 720 x 1280, the screen has a pixel density of 267 ppi. The polished moonstone finish at the back, gives a sleek and sophisticated look. The phone is powered by 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and a memory space of 16GB, which is expandable up to 32GB. An 13 mp Sony camera at the back is capable of shooting HD videos at 1080p and features a 5 megapixel front camera. Powerful 2,500mAh Li-Po battery provides a talk time of 8 hours and standby of over 300 hours. Also, the device supports dual SIM and 4G LTE connectivity.
The Price is Definitely Right!
Micromax has always managed competitive pricing and interestingly, that has worked wonders till now. So it isn’t surprising that the trend continues with Yureka. The device is bundled with a highly customizable OS, a big screen, crisp display, 13 MP camera, 4G connectivity and a very decent battery life for just Rs 8,999. With that kind of price tag, the company would expect a blockbuster response from the public, which I feel this phone actually deserves. The Micromax YU Yureka is available for pre-order on Amazon and will start shipping out in the second week of January.
If you’re not impressed by all the features and the aggressive pricing of the Micromax YU Yureka, you’ve probably not understood them completely. Read this again, let it sink in and then place your order.
