Microsoft Lay off rumours pick up
CNET News reports that Microsoft might be planning for big lay offs in the month of January. Rumours have started pouring on the expected number of cuts including a private blog entry report which puts up the number as high as 15000, which amounts to roughly 17% of the software giant’s worldwide workforce.
Incidentally, rumours are on that Jan 15 is the day selected for the bad news to usher in on the employees. Microsoft‘s second-quarter earnings report are scheduled for January 22.
Many rumours bet on big lay offs happening at Microsoft EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Well doing divisions like the XBox 360 division, might as well be retained without any cuts.
Financial experts closely monitoring the company’s strategies feel that the target areas of lay offs from the rumours may make sense, but not the high volume of job cuts.
Experts opine that there is no reason for the company to suddenly cut this much cost. Microsoft’s margins are still fine, and much of its revenue is generated from multi-year contracts
