Advanced technology continues to progress car design and mechanics. The best new models set for release in late 2013 and early 2014 are making their debuts this spring at auto shows across the globe. From Nissan, to Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Corvette— in 2014 vehicle advancements will continue to take the way we drive into the future.
2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition
An improved version of the 2014 Nissan GT, only 150 GT-Rs will be available in the United States. The vehicle will be released in May. The track edition’s specialty is a distinguishably tuned suspension developed at the Nürburgring. The car’s exterior receives a new front spoiler. The vehicle’s interior has blue-trimmed performance seating surfaces while the car’s breaks are equipped with cooling air guides.
2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507
Mercedes’ C63 AMG Edition 507 will be revealed at the 83rd annual Geneva Motor Show in March and is scheduled to arrive in America this summer. This will replace the optional Performance package currently offered for the AMG model. Edition 507 is named for its engine’s 507-horsepower rating and is available in coupe or sedan. The new model’s torque is bumped to 450 lb.-ft. at 5,200 rpm. According to the car manufacturer the new edition reached 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 174 mph. A high-performance braking system with front brake discs and red brake calipers resists fatigue and wrapping. The exterior gets matte gray AMG sports stripe and a new ventilated hood. No price has been released for the model.
2014 Cadillac ELR
It’s still early, but 2013 has already been a great year for Cadillac. The hybrid model of the Escalade was released, garnering rave reviews. Luxury sedan, the Cadillac ATS, was named Car of the Year. Now the hybrid sedan, the ELR is pushing the manufacturing company further into the future. The ELR made its debut at the North American International Auto Show. Sleek two-door design with a 0.305 coefficient of drag. All lights of the vehicle, interior and exterior, are LED. This Coupe’s powertrain includes a T-shaped 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The ELR has an all-electric range of 35 miles, an average total charge time of about 4.5 hours from a 240-volt outlet and a 12-hour charge time on a 110-volt outlet. Sales for the vehicle will start in early 2014.
2014 Audi RS 7
The price for the Audi RS 7 has yet to be determined. This sporty four door has quattro all-wheel drive, a low-slung body and 20-inch wheels. The RS 7 is distinguished by a 4.0 TFSI engine that pumps out 560hp. The engine combined with eight-speed tiptronic transmission commands a 0-62 time of 3.9 seconds with a top speed of almost 190 mph, according to Caranddriver.com.
2014 Corvette Stingray
The all-new Corvette Stingray is a modern take on an iconic classic. The new Stingray is a showy car, meticulously sculpted with aerodynamics in mind. The car packs an estimated 450 horsepower with 450 lb.-ft. of torque. The combined horsepower and torque accelerates the new Corvette to 60 mpg in less than four seconds. Highlights of the 2014 Stingray include: a new 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine with combined advanced technologies and a seven-speed manual transmission. The 2014 Stingray goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013.
