Nokia back to korea – But still releasing 6210 is a question ?
The finland gaint Nokia hasn’t shipped any new phones to korea since 2003. WIPI regulation, also known as Wireless Internet Platform Interoperability, is the reason why handset manufacturers from outside South Korea cannot sell their products in this particular East-Asian country. Now WIPI regulation is about to be lifted by this year, so Nokia plans to move some of its new phones into korean market.
Nokia planned for its 6210 Navigator release with korean standards. However, it looks like the 6210 won’t be able to make use of its navigation capabilities after it gets launched in Korea. 6210 navigator without these capabilities, the release of handset will not make any impression.
According to the terms of Telecoms Korea, Nokia require to “embed a server with stored map information” inorder to provide navigation facility on a phone. But Nokia, wants to use map server based in Singapore and not korea. Due to this, launching of 6210 Navigator will not make any big impression in the korean market.
