Pentax announced new 3 rugged models for 2013 CP+
Pentax announced 3 new rugged models for its adventurous photo enthusiast for CP+ 2013 in Yokohama, Japan. The WG-3 is available with and without a build-in GPS. Both the versions features F2.0-4.9 lens with 25-100mm equivalent zoom, high ISO sensitivity, sensor-shift shake reduction, and a 16-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor. Both are waterproof down to 45 feet, drop resistant from heights of 6.6 feet, dust resistant, handle temperatures down to 14F and back-pocket safe (can handle upto 220 pounds of pressure).
According to Pentax, the feature set of the WG-3 has been “optimized to meet the rigorous and demanding needs of the adventurous photo enthusiast, whose travels and exploits can take them into a variety of scenarios too challenging for the traditional point and shoot.”
A dedicated display will show compass direction and either elevation or depth below water. For macro shooters, the WG-3 includes Pentax’s unique Digital Microscope mode and a ring of six LED lights to enable shadow-free shooting as close as one centimeter from subject. For the outdoors man, the WG-3 GPS will have integrated GPS functionality enabling image geo-tagging, so you’ll always know exactly where each shot was taken. The GPS feature also records pressure, altitude, and depth gauge. Other features include a dedicated button for recording video (Full HD 1080p), a double locking battery door, and wireless charging (WG-3 GPS only).
In addition, is a compact camera with feature of waterproof down to nearly 33 feet (10 meter), and can withstands drops from nearly 5 feet (1.5 meters), crush-proof with up to 100 kilograms of force and dustproof. Likewise, it can handle temperatures down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. WG-10 features with 2.7-inch LCD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and anti-reflection coating. There’s a 28mm wide-angle lens, as well as 5x optical zoom and 6.7x digital zoom. The CCD sensor clocks in at 14-megapixels, ISO ranges from 80 to 6400, and videos can be recorded in up to 720p HD.
The WG-3 GPS comes in purple or green color for $350, WG-3 comes in black or orange for $300, while WG-10 comes in purple and red for $180. Both the WG-3 models are expected by March 2013, while WG-10 is expected by Mid-April 2013.
