Qualcomm announces its first 64 bit chipset

Qualcomm is following the 64 bit craze and is introducing its own 64 bit chipset. But I don’t get it what the craze is on a 64 bit processor when it is not fully used. The only case where the 64 bit processor is used to its fullest is on a Laptop running a 64 bit architecture. The pirated versions of Windows 8 spoil all that and install a 32 bit operating system on to a 64 bit processor and if you want to get a 64 bit OS, you have to get an original disk which should set you back by a few thousand bucks.

Qualcomm is known for its mobile chipsets. The Snapdragon processors are widely known and takes place in the costliest and fast performing smartphones. The Snapdragon 800 is a beast and so are the other chipsets. The 800 allows up to a speed of 2.2GHz and Quad core processing which found its way on the Lumia 1520, the Xperia Z Ultra to name a few devices.

The 64 bit processor is set to take processing to a whole new level. It has introduced a processor which is named Snapdragon 410 which will also support 4G LTE (Long term evolution) out of the box. It is based on the latest 28nm architecture. It also includes support for Adreno 306 GPU, 13MP camera and 1080p playback. Acquisition of Atheros Communication has helped the company very much and has transformed Qualcomm into an integrated chipset developer for the smartphone category. But there is no use in producing a 64 bit chipset if you are not giving 4GB of RAM. Remember that Apple and Qualcomm!
