Beware of Fake Flappy Bird Alternatives – Be secured!

As I told in my previous article, you can never escape from Flappy Bird so easily. There are genuine alternative to download and keep up your love with the game. But at the same time, there are fake ones – the malicious ones in the app store that aim to take control of your device. Beware!

As soon as the developer announced his decision to remove Flappy Bird from the App stores, tons of alternative poped up in the market. In fact, we did covered few of those to help our readers find an alternative. But now, the issue is getting more serious. According to the reports from Naked security, Fake Flappy Bird apps are flooded in the app stores and they are ready to inject ad-wares and malicious programs into your device.

The Fake alternatives look similar to the original version – including the app icon, graphics and game play. However, the malicious apps will take control of your device – by sending and receiving text messages to charge up your phone bills – especially to premium numbers.

“All of the fake versions we’ve seen so far are premium service abusers — apps that send messages to premium numbers, thus causing unwanted charges to victims’ phone-billing statements,” told in TrendLabs official report.
