Glimpses of smartwatches due release this year

Cellular telephones are popular and almost everyone has one. (I wouldn’t be too wrong if I say everyone almost have two at the same time!) With too many models to choose from already, new customers are in confusion. Meanwhile, the companies have decided to divert their concentration to wearables. These wearables are mostly in the form of watches. In a few years (or a few months, because that’s how fast technology is developing) wearable gadgets will also reach the popularity that cellular phones enjoy. Here, I enlist the gadgets that are due release this year and I wonder which of these you would be setting your hands on. Most of these gadgets have not revealed their specifications yet. What you may hear in most websites are rumours, their opinions based on pictures, videos and speeches delivered by the manufacturing companies.

Motorola’s Moto 360

Motorola’s Moto 360 is expected to release in the summer. This voice controlled watch is facilitated with Google Now. This watch is rumoured to have no charging ports, or any ports for that matter. Maybe solar and kinetic power will be harnessed? Hmmm.

Samsung’s Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit

Samsung’s Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches which will arrive in the markets shortly are powered by Tizen operating system. The Samsung Gear Fit, also due to arrive in the markets shortly, combines the capabilities of a fitness band with a smartwatch. It functions as a pedometer and heart rate monitor apart from the other facilities of Gear 2 such as calls, emails, SMS, and alarms notification.

Even with all these wearable gadgets coming to markets soon and promises of other wearable gadgets in the upcoming years, everyone are interested with what Apple and Google is up to. Tim Cook has already stated that he’s working on devising such a device and also Google has announced an android wearable. Keep an eye on this  playground, and watch who wins the smart watch competition!
