Sony stops production of Playstation 2 Gaming Console

Sony has officially confirmed the retirement of Playstation 2 gaming console. According to the reports from Guardian, the company has decided to stop the production of PS2 and ceased the distribution of the console in japan. Sony’s Playstation PS2 was the legend among the entertainment systems and it had successfully sold more than 150 million units world wide from its inception. Playstation 2 stood strong against its competitor Sega and Nintendo and it has even outsold its successor Playstation 3.

Rumors says that the company plans to unveil Playstation 4 sometime during 2013 and want the developers to focus on PS4 instead of PS2.
