A nano with a twist – the Tata Nano Twist review.

Tata Nano is the most sought after segment which is compact and “cheap”. The tag “cheap” is what sought people to the new segment but it is not so cheap at all. It costs very much the same rate as an Alto and Mr. Ratan Tata said that he didn’t give or suggest the word “cheap”. In the line of Nano, comes a car with a twist- the new Nano Twist.

The Nano twist comes with a power steering, an updated engine which is rather fuel efficient, twin glove box and standard music system with Bluetooth connectivity. The steering column is electrically mounted and assisted that it is the first car in the Tata series to feature the power steering. What an improvement Tata!! Well, the credit should go to thousands of nano owners out there, because the power steering feature requirement was none other than a customer feedback. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is placed below the dashboard.

The new nano

The heavy manual steering is smooth at low and high speeds, but vibrates a lot during parking. The steering uses an Active Return feature which means that you don’t have to worry about the car going left or right or the number of times you have rotated the steering to turn it back by the same number of times the other way around to make the wheel straight. The system basically does that for you (which is actually very late for a car). The turning radius of the car is same 4 metre. The new nano also gets a stripe down its body which makes it look like a race car, but in order to get that racing DNA, the engine needs to be very much tuned. The new Nano comes at Rs. 2.63 Lakhs. The Nano twist will be offered only in the XT variant. Which is your Nano – the Nano or the Nano twist?
