Tegra K1 benchmark. Impressive but not so great!
The Tegra K1 is a GPU chipset by Nvidia which is meant to be off limits and gives a strong processing power to the little PCs. The chip comes with 192 core Graphics processing units and is very much powerful than the GPUs inside the Xbox 360 and the PS3. It is also said to be powerful than the iPhone 5S GPU. Nvidia showcased this beast at the CES 2014 but was mum on the other details.
The benchmark score is very impressive and it could beat all other GPUs that were built on the latest processors and full OS kits. But the tough competition to the Tegra K1 is the Nvidia GT 740M graphics which gave a score of 112fps compared to 60fps of the Tegra K1. But what good is a 192 core GPU if it still comes second to that GPU which is at least an year old? Are the number of cores just a gimmick? Companies do whatever they can to increase the price range but yet give an underrated performance product.
The recently launched Tegra 4 GPU could only manage a score of 16fps which is not so close and seems to be out of league. The GPUs inside the iPad Air and Galaxy Note 3 could manage a score of only 27 and 24 fps respectively.
It would be quite awesome to see some devices in the future to feature this beast and see the real performance and graphics. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
