Temple Run Oz : A Colorful Temple run!
Temple Run Oz is a spin off from the original Temple Run series and was designed based on the movie The World of Oz and is developed by Disney in combination with Imangi studios. This is much similar to what we saw in Temple Run brave which was based on Brave movie.
The game is available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. The game is highly colorful and features new levels and lands which are much amusing. The game was released on 27th February, 2013 on iOS to coincide with the release of the movie Oz: the great and powerful.
Gameplay
The game has three lands (Dark forest, Whimsical Woods, Winkie Country). You start with the Yellow Brick road and on reaching higher scores, you can unlock all the three lands. You get directions as to what land there is in the game and in how much distance. This time, the chasers are not three monkeys or one single big monkey but rather three ghouls who do the same job when you get caught- Eat you. You also encounter one while running in Whimsical Woods. You also get land slides along the way in which you have to move to one side where there is land. You have to collect coins all the way to be able to enhance yourself in the shop. At first, if you go to settings, and clicking on The World of Oz, you’ll find that it is inactive. As you progress through the game, you’ll find it active. There are musical keys before every stage and you will get a reward at the end of the game. It is much similar to the bow which you get in Brave. There is also the world of wisps where you go about collecting wisps. This is a power-up. There are various power-ups. You also get various abilities that you can unlock for the character. As in the previous games, there are concepts of coins and gems. Gems are used to enhance an ability or a power-up. Gems are found along the game and these ones are small as compared to the bigger ones of the original Temple run and the new Temple Run 2.
Graphics
The graphics of the game are neat. The colors, as I said before, are vibrant and they have helped in beautifying and helping the game attain a more playable look. The other games like Temple run and Temple Run 2 don’t use much colour and give that bland and blatant look.
Controls
The controls are very much the same. And you get the tutorial in the start of the game. Swipe up to jump, Swipe down to go sliding, swipe right to turn right and swipe left to turn left. When you are in a balloon, you have to use the accelerometer to go left and right which is similar to the tilting for collecting coins and avoiding obstacles. Once you move to higher stages, the game goes faster.
