14 Steam Machines Hit CES 2014 – Complete Specification and Price details

CES 2014 was greeted by a series of Steam machines running Steam Operating system from Valve. Steam OS, the Linux based operating system primarily created to support gaming platform, has already become popular among gaming community in late 2013. Valve didn’t stop there, as the company has partnered with variety of manufactures to build computers, which is to be called as “Steam machines”. So what’s with Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox One? This is something that we’ll be speaking for next few months. Steam machines could be a real threat to the popular gaming platforms such PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with aggressive prices ranging from $499 to $6000 for a completely configured system.

Consumer Electronics Show showcased quite a good amount of Steam machines and that’s what this article is all about.

1. Dell Alienware

Dell, the popular computer manufacturer has built a Steam OS based Steam machine under its Alienware subsidiary. According to the reports, the Dell’s steam machine will be powered by Intel processor and Nvidia graphics card. The system will also be accompanied with Valve’s special steam controller.  However, we are yet to receive information about its internal hardware details and price, but the company is all set to launch the system this year. The price of the system is expected to be lesser than PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

2. Alternate Steam Machine

Alternate Steam machines will be powered by Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 3.2 GHz. To be specific, it is 4570 Haswell processor and will sport Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 graphics card, 1TB hybrid drive and 16GB RAM. Reports says, the Alternate machines will be sold for $1,399 and will hit the market at the fall of 2014.

3.  CyberPower PC

CyberPower PC plans to launch an entry level steam machine at a price of $499, powered by dual core AMD A6-6400K processor clocked at 3.9 GHz and AMD Radeon R9 270 graphics card. Another steam machine to cost $699 will be powered by Intel Core i3 4330 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 graphics card. The common configuration in both the models are 500GB SATA hard disk, WiFi, Bluetooth, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a Steam controller. The machines are expected to hit the markets during September 2014.

4. Digital Storm’s Bolt II Dual Boot Steam machine

Today in CES, Digital Storm announced Bolt II steam machine for $1,899. The machine is powered by Intel processor and Nvidia graphic card. Bolt II will also come with liquid cooling system and will be dual bootable with Windows and Steam OS. According to the reports, Bolt II is expected to be available at the end of this month.

5. Falcon NorthWest Tiki Steam machine

Falcon NorthWest is planning to launch a high end steam machine that prices from $1,799 to $6,000. The machine will be powered by Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan graphic card, 16GB RAM and 6TB of storage. The processor details are not known.

6. Gigabyte Steam machine

Another popular name in gaming world, Gigabyte steam machine will be powered by a quad core Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 3.2 GHz. Another model will feature Intel Core i7 processor with clock speed of 3.9 GHz. Both the models are expected to have Intel’s 5200 graphics card, 1TB storage and 8GB RAM. The models will also have a display port, USB 3.0 and HDMI port. The price and release date is not known yet.

7. iBuy Power Steam Machine

iBuy Power Steam machine is powered by a quad core Athlon X4 740 processor with a clock speed of 3.2 GHz, AMD Radeon graphics card, 500GB hard disk and 4GB RAM. It also features WiFi, Bluetooth and a Steam controller. The machine will cost $499.

8. Maingear Spark Steam machine

The maingear Spark sports is powered by a quad core AMD 5557M processor clocked at 3.1 GHz and AMD Radeon R9 graphics card. The machine can be configure up to 16GB RAM and a storage of 256GB. It will also have USB 3.0, Mini display port, WiFI and Bluetooth 4.0.

9. Material.Net Steam machine

Material.Net’s Steam machine will be powered by Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 3.1 GHz and will sport Nvidia graphics card. It will have 8GB RAM, 1GB hard drive. Interestingly, the system can be upgraded to Intel Core i7 processor with two Nvidia GTX Titan graphics card. The machine will cost $1,098.

10. Next Spa Steam Machine

Next Spa steam machine is powered by Intel Core i5 processor and Nvidia GTX 760 graphics card. It will have 8GB RAM, 1GB storage. The price and release details are not known.

11. Origin PC Steam machine

Origin PC plans to launch two steam machines. One is the standard edition which is expected to feature GTX Titan graphics card with liquid cooling system. Interesting feature of Origin PC is that, the users can configure the system with wide range of processor, graphics card and storage options. Both the PC’s are dual bootable with Windows 7 or 8 and Steam OS. The machine will come with a steam controller.

12. Scan NC10 Steam machine

Scan NC10 steam machines is powered by a dual core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz, Nvidia GeForce graphics card, 500GB hard disk and 8GB RAM. Scan NC10 is expected to hit the market in late 2014. The price will be $1,090.

13. Webhallen’s Steam machine

Webhallen’s machine will feature quad core Intel Core i7 processor with 3.5 GHz, Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 graphics card, 16GB RAM and 1TB hard disk. You can buy this machine later this year and will cost $1,4999.

14. Zotac Steam machine

Zotac’s steam machine will cost $599 and will hit the market later this year. It’s powered by Intel processor and Nvidia GeForce graphics card.
