Samsung announces Wallet app for Android during MWC 2013

BARCELONA – Samsung has unveiled its Wallet app for Android during its Developer Day at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Samsung Wallet app for Android is something similar to the Apple’s Passbook, that lets users to save their coupons, tickets and membership cards at one place. Along with the announcement, the company has also revealed some of its partners like Hotels.com, Expedia, Walgreens, Belly, Lufthansa, Major League Baseball Advanced Media and Booking.com.

Samsung Wallet App for Android

The company has provided an API for Wallet app, through which the partners can provide real-time new updates on membership card points and changes to boarding passes as location-based push notifications. Currently the Wallet API is a beta version and it is available only for selected partners. According to the reports, the API will be opened to public during the month of May 2013.
