GeekPhone’s Keon and Peak are first to run Firefox’s mobile OS

Mozilla has tied up with the Spanish based start-up company called “Geeksphone”; whose smartphones Keon and Peak will be first to run the Firefox mobile operating system. Both the models will run the HTML-5 based Mozilla’s firefox OS, which is a free software community announced during the recent CES 2013. According to the reports, the smartphones were designed with the app designers and developers in mind and that is very clear from the back of the phones – which has the words Firefox OS Developer Preview.

Keon smartphone is painted in the Mozilla’s brandish orange color, which is powered by a single-core 1GHz Snapdragon S1 processor from Qualcomm, with 512 MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage. The smartphone will feature a 3.5 inch display screen with the pixel resolution of 480 x 320. It also comes with 3 megapixel camera without flash and Wi-Fi/3G antennas.

Peak will also run Firefox OS

The same company will launch another smartphone called “Peak” that will also run the Firefox OS and it is expected to be more powerful device among the two. The model will feature 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 SoC processor, with 512MB RAM and will sport a 4.3 inch HD display with the pixel resolution of 960 x 540. The model comes with an 8 megapixel primary camera with flash and 2-megapixel front facing camera. It will have an in-built storage of 4GB.
