LG Unveils Redesigned Magic Remote with Voice Recognition for Cinema 3D Smart TV
The electronics giant LG didn’t have patience to wait till CES 2013 to unveil its re-designed Magic Remote for LG’s Cinema 3D Smart TV. On December 19th 2012, the company announced a Magic Remote that can understand your voice commands. For example, you can just say “Show me Gangnam Style“, it will take you to relevant app or a clip. The redesigned device is powered with language recognition capabilities that can understand and activate voice commands. Well, it doesn’t stop there – it features other control options like gestures, point and wheel.
“LG is committed to providing innovative home entertainment solutions and the Magic Remote is a key pillar of the CINEMA 3D Smart TV user experience,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Building on an already impressive feature set, the latest version boasts accurate language recognition and its gesture, wheel and point control options makes the Magic Remote stand out amongst its competition as a truly intuitive device.”
The new natural language recognition software makes voice commands as easy as regular speech. So you can speak quite normally without any preparation for commanding the remote. The device serves as an universal remote, which can command Smart TVs, set-top boxes, sound bar and Blu-ray players.
Another notable feature is “Point” & “Wheel” controls, where the former one is a motion based video controller and the later one can be used for scrolling the web pages up & down and perform zoom-in and zoom-out when using applications like Google Maps.
