Stephen Elop- A one of a kind man!!!
Stephen Elop the former CEO of Nokia is making huge plans. If he gets elected as the CEO of Microsoft, he may kill Xbox and Bing services. The device may face many problems but it sure was and is a hit among the gamer community. This man was responsible for the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will pay EUR 3.79 billion to purchase substantially all of Nokia’s Devices & Services business, and EUR 1.65 billion to license Nokia’s patents, for a total transaction price of EUR 5.44 billion in cash. Microsoft will draw upon its overseas cash resources to fund the transaction. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, subject to approval by Nokia’s shareholders, regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. At closing, approximately 32,000 people are expected to transfer to Microsoft, including 4,700 people in Finland and 18,300 employees directly involved in manufacturing, assembly and packaging of products worldwide.
The operations that are planned to be transferred to Microsoft generated an estimated EUR 14.9 billion, or almost 50 percent of Nokia’s net sales for the full year 2012. Stephen Elop will certainly be up to the above tasks if given the top job at Microsoft – as a Nokia chief, he killed off Symbian and spun out the Finnish company’s mapping services into a separate business. For the time being however, such events are not considered very likely, as Microsoft is moving towards integrating Bing deeply into its product lineup. Killing off Symbian and going into the development of Meego would’ve been a successive move for Nokia but rather he also couldn’t stand it and rather cut the ties with Intel and as soon as MeeGo was released with the N9 it was dead. Now a team of former Nokia developers have joined hands together to form Jolla, the next iteration and better version of MeeGo. He is planning to kill both Xbox and Bing which are said to be cause of loss for Microsoft. I don’t know what he is thinking but Microsoft isn’t doing that as it is planning to integrate Bing service into many of its core components like Windows 8, 8.1, etc. I surely hope Microsoft doesn’t choose him to be next CEO or else we’ll see the great downfall of a successful MNC.
