Rumor: Nokia Normandy is Nokia’s take on Android?
Every body is saying “Nokia you should have chosen Android”, “Nokia this Nokia that”, “WP sucks- Has no appzz and gamezz”. Huff! We also heard the rumour that Nokia will produce an Android phone! And, seems like the rumour will turn true, yes! Nokia is coming with a concept Android phone which is said to go in to production or that its commercial release should happen in 2014.
The Nokia Normandy is like the Nokia Asha range. It is supposed to be a low cost device. This is a tactic that should be opted by Nokia on how the device sells and seeing that, it can step in to this business. The version of Android inside the device is a custom version just like your Amazon Kindle series, the Flyme OS of Meizu, the Color OS by Oppo and MIUI by Xiaomi. These were some of the examples of Heavily skinned Android. The OS allows to run major android apps which is considered to be the major drawback of the present Asha lineup. An image of this device was published by @evleaks which is the major company when it comes to reliability of leaks.
The leaks are sure to be true. The device in question features a big screen with a Nokia Asha 501 like capacitive back button only. The styling of the device is like a Lumia. The Normandy is like a cross between a Lumia and an Asha. Normandy should support apps like Skype, etc. Microsoft has acquired Nokia and its devices division, so, this move is rather confusing. As the deal is still in progress, Maybe Nokia should try to release the device as soon as possible. We can’t imagine Microsoft being interested in using Android which is a rival platform to its own homebrewed OS- the Windows Phone. This is just a rumor and Only time will tell as to how plans will change. So do take it with a pinch of salt.
