DrinkSavvy glasses change colors when your drink contains GHB – Prevent Date-Rape Drugging

Recently we are coming to hear about many many women being sexually assaulted using colorless, odorless and tasteless rape drugs! You might not even guess if it was mixed in your drink! What if your glass, cup or straw changed color to warn you? That sounds great right? Its going to come real sooner!

Mike Abramson from DrinkSavvy, Dr. John MacDonald, professor of chemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Contract Researching Organizations are developing DrinkSavvy a material that will immediately change color to warn you if a drug is slipped into your drink!

The team is looking to shape the material into drink-ware, Plastic Straws and Stirrers, Plastic Party Cups, and Glassware. “While DrinkSavvy’s initial goal is to perfect our design to make our products available online and free to select rape crisis centers, DrinkSavvy’s ultimate goal is to use the success of this campaign to convince bars, clubs, and colleges to make DrinkSavvy the new safety standard and eventuallymake drug-facilitated sexual assault a crime of the past.”, Abramson  said.

The project is currently with indiegogo for funding  and the amount raised so far is about $27,000 you could also pledge for the project. We could expect  DrinkSavvy by June 2013.
