California to get World’s tallest Solar Tower

Bright Source and Abengoa has joined their hands to build a 500 megawatts concentrated Solar Tower in California. The project includes twin towers with the height of 750 foot tall, each capable of generating 250 megawatt units and will grab the title of World’s tallest Solar Towers. The higher the tower is, higher the power generated; higher towers uses more heliostats, thus producing more power from a single unit. Additionally the design is space efficient, as the project requires less land space; which is 33% less than typical photovolatic farm. According to the reports, the project can generate electricity to power 2 Lakh households and prevents emission of about 17 million tons of CO2 while going through its entire life-cycle.
