Nina Davuluri, Miss New York of Indian Heritage wins Miss America pageant 2014!

Nina Davuluri,  24, from Syracuse, has become the second consecutive contestant from New York to win the Miss America pageant. She is the first Indian descent to win this crown. Her pageant platform was celebrating diversity through cultural competency and her talent routine was a Bollywood fusion dance!

She said in her first press conference after winning the crown in Atlantic City, “I’m so happy this organization has embraced diversity,”. Her passion is to be a doctor, and she applying for medical with the help of a $50,000 scholarship won from the pageant title. Check out the gallery!
