Could this be the Samsung’s next big thing? Tizen based Developer Smartphone

It was looking stunning, a black beauty, slim and lite weight! Sorry, No imaginations! I am talking about the Samsung’s Tizen based smartphone, which I happened to witness during Tizen DevLab Workshop organized in Vodafone Services India Pvt. Ltd. It was told by the developers from Samsung, that the device was meant only for the development purpose and of course, I could confirm it by the model name (Ref.Device-PQ). The smartphone was running latest version of Tizen (2.2.0) operating system.

The device took a while to boot. And the lockscreen was just like Galaxy devices saying “Life Magazine” instead of Life Companion as found in S4. Simple left to right swipe unlocked the device and took me to the home screen, which looked lot similar to the Android Home screen. The touch was pretty good, as I could not see any lag in the response. The other specifications are not known.

Recently Samsung announced its first Tizen based Mirrorless camera. According to the reports, the first Tizen Smartphone might hit stores during the first quarter of 2014 (the earlier rumors hinted that the device might release in 2013).
