Diesel Price to increase again following elections!

There will be a hike in diesel prices and this is to be expected following the elections. The deregulation in prices will be followed over a period of six months which is to lead to the hike in prices of the fuel. This will lead to other implications as well. Trucks and Railways which use this as a main fuel source are sure to increase their fare.

Railways is an important means of communication for the common people and people under poverty line. They have to struggle to meet the railway fare as of now but this increase is sure a bane for them. Railways consume about 1300-1400 crores on fuel. It takes about 30L of diesel to start an engine. So think about the amount of diesel it will take to run through the whole journey.

“We will wait and watch. We would not like to speculate now. We have not made any calculations yet on the exact impact of increase in fuel cost,” Devi Prasad Pandey a Member-Traffic of Railway Board.

The Ministers and higher officials are not answering to any of the questions posed as to when this will come into effect but are rather mum on the issue. Countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc. have prices of petrol at around Rs. 11-20. It is only in our country that the petrol price is soaring high and is touching the skies. Diesel was the only fuel which didn’t see any hike in price but the large difference between the prices are not to keep our politicians down. They are sure to keep their pockets full with the people’s money.
