BSNL Launches broadband at 24 Mbps for customers in 500 meters range
BSNL can be named as one the backbone of India. Its believed by many people in this country from many many years. Now BSNL is not only providing telephone services or mobile services, it is also providing broadband facility also. BSNL has made heads turn with its latest offering of Broadband speeds up to an unbelievable 24 Mbps breaking Bharti Airtel’s record of 16 Mbps. This announcement comes as a great relief for customers longing for faster connections. Not only this, this move may indeed pump up the broadband market in India which only has a meager 8 million users. Not all the broadband enthusiasts may get this opportunity to avail this express connectivity from BSNL.This is because at present the services of 24 and 16 Mbps will be available based on the distance of the customers from BSNLs exchange. While 24 Mbps connectivity can be availed by subscribers stationed 500 meters from BSNL’s broadband exchange nodes, its 1 km radius for those interested in 16 Mbps.
This news from BSNL does have positive impacts as well. India has been lagging behind in terms of Broadband speed and this move would surely induce a sense of competition in the market. Though we are nowhere near countries like Japan and Korea which boast of Broadband speeds ranging between 45-60 Mbps, it’s never too late to make a beginning. Though BSNL at present does not have the capacity to provide this service to far placed customers, one can expect more positive development in this segment as time passes. BSNL’s pricing for this service makes us believe in the saying “All good thing come with a price tag”.BSNL’s connection is no different as the 24 Mbps and 16 Mbps connections come with an exorbitantly high price tag of Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 4,999 respectively.
