Fastest Elevator to be deployed at Shanghai Tower – 40mph!
How fast can you climb a tower? Shanghai tower which is of 2,073-foot high is ready to feature the fastest elevator that can climb at a speed of 40mph. The Shanghai tower is set to be the second tallest building next to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Mitsubishi Electric has recently revealed the technology used for new high-speed elevators that will climb at a speed of 40 mph, which means the elevator can climb approximately 1080 meters per minute.
According to the reports from Mitsubishi, the elevator’s motor has a built-in converter that regenerates the electricity. This technology saves almost 30 percent of power consumption.
If there is any problem with the elevator cable, the safety gear, which is made of ceramic material can withstand extreme heat and friction. The safety gear also has two stages to better handle the kinetic energy from high speeds.
And it’s said that the elevator passengers might feel a bit of vibrations like they feel in the cars at high speed.
So, never miss to climb the tower during your next visit. But of course, you will have to wait till 2014.
