The World’s first Multi-material Full Color 3D Printer from Stratasys
We saw few 3D printers released during the CES 2014 and now, the most interesting one from Stratasys – the multi-color printer. It’s the world’s first full color multi-material 3D printer. The company who known for the MakerBot range of printers has unveiled a printer featuring triple-jetting technology that combines droplets of three base materials. The printer named “Objet 400 Connex3 Color Multi-material 3D Printer” can print hundreds of colours and designed to save time of designers and manufacturers by 50%. The base materials are rubber and plastic, which is then combined and processed to create products with varying transparency, opacity, rigidity and flexibility.
According to the reports, the company’s serious rival has announced a similar 3D printer called “ProJet 5500X” which is said to offer colors such as black, white and certain grey shades.
Here’s what Stratasys had to say about the limitation – This limitation is not a big problem for businesses who only wants the prototype initially to study the shape and behavior of the design. Colours are a serious concern only in the later point in the manufacturing process. The printer would cost around $330,000 (£200,000).
