Facebook is not making “Facebook Phone”, but a Home Screen for Android
Oh no! What an anti-climax here! Facebook’s recent announcement about its Android event was speculated around an announcement for Facebook-Android mobile, but now the reports say “Facebook’s Android project is not a Facebook phone, but a dedicated Home screen for Facebook” to access all Facebook related stuffs right from your Home screen. Facebook’s Home screen is expected to display content from other users on a smartphone’s home screen. According to the reports from WSJ, Facebook will first release this feature on HTC mobiles, but hopes to release it for other Android phones as well. Currently Zuckerberg is working on “placement deals” with other smartphone manufactures. So probably Facebook’s “Come See Our New Home on Android” tagline sounds nearly to be a perfect description for its new Home screen project and it’s not a mobile.
Reports say that, Facebook wants to make its app broadly available for all Android devices, so it might want to make its news feed and other Facebook information immediately available to the user.
