Ford Edge concept is out! Here are some pictures!
The Ford Edge concept is based on the Ford Ecosport. The Ford Ecosport is a compact SUV or rather a City based SUV with Ample Space and is very comfortable. The length of the SUV is quite low when compared to other SUVs like Toyota Innova, Fortuner, etc. The Ecosport features a TDCi Diesel engine developed by Ford. The Edge concept based on the Ecosport is expected to hit the roads by 2017.
The concept as of now is to be available only for the European market. It features advanced technologies like push button start or key-less start and remote parking which the user can do it from either inside or outside.
The Ford Edge comes with many driver assisting features and semi automatic techniques. The first one is automatic perpendicular parking. The car can park itself with a touch of a button or by using a remote control. This is similar to the concept showed by Volkswagen on its latest Passat and Jetta lineup. The steering wheel will automatically rotate in the particular direction the space is available. It sports a sleek and sporty appearance. Ford has also put its latest research in work on the Edge- Collision Avoidance. If the system detects an obstacle in its path, it issues a warning. Then if the driver doesn’t respond by steering or braking, the system itself does that automatically. This is done to avoid collision. This was a technology which was first introduced by Volvo on its trucks. The interiors also are exciting with Ford SYNC which helps in connecting your Bluetooth device for music, voice control and calls during driving. The Ford Edge is an array of new tech. People sure are getting lazy and Car companies use that as a plus and bring in unwanted technologies which increase the price of the car. The parking feature is rather unwanted though the collision system is a must.
Here are the pictures of the concept at different angles and the interior.
