Write in the Air to compose texts and emails using Airwriting glove
Well! gesture control technologies are growing and here is an another example. Just a week ago, we saw MYO armband that allows you to control your PC and Macs through gestures. Another gesture control technology based glove, developed by the researchers from Karlsruher Institut für Technologie in Germany, allows you to compose texts and emails by writing in the Air. Airwriting glove is powered by sensors that can detect the hand movements, captures and decodes them. What’s interesting about Airwriting is, it knows when you are writing and ignores other gestures like cooking, waving hand to say bye to your husband and the flying kisses thrown at your wife.
Here’s what Christoph Amma, one of the developer says about Airwriting. “The system runs in the background without interpreting every movement as computer input.”
Currently, the Airwriting glove can recognize capitalized letters and can write up to 8,000 words. The product is still in prototype, so you might find some initial glitches. According to the reports from the developers, the error rate of the glove is 11 percent and it can go down to 3 percent the more it is used.
Lets wait to hear more about the product in near future. Meanwhile, let us know your comments.
