Goal Line Technology to be adopted in 2014 World Cup confirms FIFA

FIFA confirmed to incorporate the new Goal Line Technology in 2014 world cup at Brazil. Thanks to the successful testing of the new Goal Line Technology at the Club World Cup in Japan, which helped FIFA to take the decision to include this new technology. All the stadiums hosting 2014 world cup will be equipped with this new technology.

GoalRef and Hawkeye are those two new goal line technology, while the exact form of tech to be adopted is yet to be decided. Hawkeye uses cameras set up around the goal, while Goalref uses magnetic sensors.  Hawk-eye goal line technology was installed at the toyota stadium, while GoalRef goal line technology was installed at international stadium yokohoma, during 2012 FIFA Club World Cup in japan.

Goal Line Technology confirms FIFA

A Fifa statement said: “After a successful implementation of Goal-Line Technology (GLT) at the Club World Cup in Japan in December 2012, Fifa has decided to use GLT at the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil”

The Aim is to use the Goal Line technology to support the match officials for critical decisions. During April 2013, FIFA would announce the official news of using the Goal Line Technology at the 2014 World Cup Matches.
