Google Play starts offering devices in India! Starting with the Nexus 7
Yes! This is the first time Google is directly selling a device in India through its Play Store.
Play Store has only offered apps and books so long here, with Google I/O fast approaching, it seems like Google is getting to launch more features and hardware in more countries at once!
Google has opened device sales for India through Google Play, beginning with the Nexus 7 which was launched back in June last year at the Google I/O event. This includes the 16GB WiFi version tablet, which costs 15,999 rupees ($294). Play Store says that delivery will be on April 5th through the Fedex/Aramex.
The Nexus 7 is 7-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. It has a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1 GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, NFC, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and 4,325 mAh battery. Additionally Nexus 7 is expected to get a hardware and software refresh at Google I/O in May 2013!
It is a notable point that this is the second Nexus device to be sold in India.
